What is the GPTO?

GPTO is the Guardian/Parent Teacher Organization that meets on the third Thursday of each month.

How do I become a member?

If you are a parent or guardian of a child attending Little Fort Elementary, you are already a member of the PTO. There are no dues to pay, no membership forms and no secret handshakes. Come to a meeting and find out how you can help make your child’s school even better than it already is.

What does it mean to be a member?

That depends on you! We invite you to become an active participant in your student’s education by being an active participant at Little Fort Elementary. The level of involvement is up to you! Whether your involvement is chairing a PTO committee, participating on a committee, volunteering in the classroom, reading with your child at night, or help with Popcorn Days and Book Fair, you play an important role at Little Fort.

How can I get involved/volunteer?

We have a sign-up that lets us know that you are interested in GPTO. A sign-up sheet was also sent home with your student. Also, at any time during the school year, please feel free to contact Mrs. Belinda Garcia (224-303-3758) to let them know you would like to volunteer. Parent involvement is encouraged and appreciated!

What happens at PTO meetings, and when are they held?

Each meeting follows a specific agenda, which typically includes reports from major committees, and a report from the Principal. Time is also allotted for discussion of new ideas and activities. The PTO holds a monthly meeting on the third Thursday of each month during the school year. Please check the school calendar for times and location or on the Little Fort Elementary Facebook. Any PTO member is welcome and encouraged to attend.
